Prepare to see 33 of the most breathtaking Couture dresses in the world

I always think that what you see on the catwalk you start to see coming through into wedding dress designs in couture dresses, bridal shops and the high street.  These dresses are from Paris Fashion week this year.  Can you predict any of the new trends in wedding dress designs here?

This Elie Saab gown with a sheer embroidered cape and golden starburst across the neckline

Ralph & Russo’s caped crusader could make a modern bridal look

This Elie Saab gown is another red carpet winner, and a real contender for an Oscars gown.  The feathers could be a big thing in wedding dress design!

After seeing the feather trim on this Chanel gown, I can’t fathom why all winter wedding dresses do not have such a playful embellishment…

Giambattista Valli’s bridal gown was as breathtaking as I imagined it would be

The Elie Saab collection this season was New York inspired, with flapper feathers and Chrysler building inspired peplums. Definitely a feature of wedding dress design to come

This Elie Saab gown looks like it was created especially for a Valentine’s Day Gala, with a draped skirt covered with scattered graphic hearts and the sheer lace bodice adorned with red sequin hearts.  Valentines wedding any one?

I defy any woman not to fall in love with Giambattista Valli’s tumbling tulle gowns – a stunning coloured wedding dress

This frothy monochrome Chanel confection looks almost too precious to wear – an interesting idea for a wedding dress

There is something seriously bewitching about this caped black Alberta Ferretti gown. Were Sleeping Beauty to be reimagined again, Maleficent could take a couture turn in this embellished beauty – a daring wedding dress

Armani Prive’s collection featured plenty of velvet (which you will see everywhere come September) and this black tiered strapless gown was a stand-out look from the collection – velvet wedding dresses for autumn/winter?

Taking the cold-shoulder trend to couture levels and wedding dresses? the gold embellishment on this black Dior dress reminds me of confetti – Imagine this in white with silver or pink confetti – just gorgeous!

Karl Lagerfeld reimagined the classic gypsy dress as a couture piece for Chanel’s collection – a great idea for a gypsy boho wedding dress

Intricate hand-beading is Elie Saab’s real forte, and this exquisite nude sheer gown with well-placed grey beading could certainly transfer to wedding dress design

Ralph & Russo managed to create an ultra feminine floral dress that was part rose, part peony and such a fascinating idea for a wedding dress

Taking the ruffle trend to new heights, Francesco Scognamiglio’s satin gown will be a real head-turner walking down the aisle

This Giambattista Valli tulle mini would make a fabulous Christmas tree fairy dress or wedding dress

A barely-there pink Giambattista Valli beauty that would make my heart stop on the runway or aisle

After modelling one of Giambattista Valli’s frothy tulle gowns to the Grammys, could this rouge number be Rihanna’s next red carpet showstopper? What a winter wedding dress!

Iris Van Herpen’s dress is so angular and so unusual it commanded my attention. Certainly a dress for an uncommon bride

This cherry blossom Elie Saab gown is bound to appear on a red carpet very, very soon and on a few brides

Viktor and Rolf’s collection included dresses made of built up layers of fabrics recycled from previous collections – perfect for an eco wedding

I’m a sucker for a cape on the red carpet – I could imagine some brides doing this Ralph & Russo gown justice

One of the most striking looks in the Armani Prive collection was this gown with a black velvet skirt and sheer bodice with chain ‘pocket-effect’ detailing covering the nipples. Talk about drama…

If I had a couture budget at my disposal, I’d invest in this Ralph & Russo gown to wear at summer weddings – it would make a great bridesmaids dress too

Amidst a sea of red carpet-ready couture gowns, this Ralph & Russo dress stood out for being playful and frivolous

This Schiaparelli gown has gold themed wedding written all over it

Brides looking for a modern alternative to white wedding dresses should look to Ralph & Russo’s blush pink designs for inspiration

A shimmering delight that came courtesy of Schiaparelli
